Random Retail
On my way to check-out the Epson 4800 Professional Edition printer and photographic papers. I got lost and stumbled across a Paper Store called Xpedex. Since I love paper and actually in a search for a particular paper. I decided to take the detour. It was a warehouse set-up. Whilst at the register I applied for the job opening. A couple of months later after a thorough background check. I was hired and started working with Xpedex Paper Store, a business unit of International Paper.
It has been an interesting week working on a retail front yet most customers are company accounts, buying in bulk. Although, items can be bought in retail.
On my first week, at times I find myself wanting to do more, wanting to know what's going - on, What's the plan?, What's the marketing strategy?, Who is in-charge of getting new clients?, Can we order more International Paper?, Can we have more variety of specialty paper in the store?...the swatches that designers browse through when working on a project?, Can I do the financial and paper training that I read on the manual? or maybe I shouldn't be taking the job too seriously. I mean just do what needs to be done.
On my 3rd day, I got bored and was very concerned. Good thing on the fourth day -- I got to use my brain a bit and wasn't bored at all. Found myself wanting to finish what I started again.
Working part-time is kind of nice. Having enough time to balance interests and learning more from another company as well as through interacting with others.
By the way, I did end-up finding my way to the Epson distributor after the detour and got an Epson Stylus 3800 Pro Professional Edition.
