SF Mafia Trunk Show DIY or Die.

As I reflect on my experiences, I must say it was an incredible day. Years of ideas hovering in my mind materialized. Yesterday became real. I showcased original designs and creations such as the funky alphabet flat cards, long & big Christmas tags, canvas-covered journals filled with revived papers and a life goal sheet, word balloon cards, "faith and "basket" cards. As the chief designer, I worked laboriously till 3 A.M., while Dado, the production manager, toiled till 1 A.M.

The weather was summer-like. It rained the day before. Parking at the Golden Gate Park was difficult. Foot traffic was relatively high. At 12 noon, people started coming in intentionally or accidentally. Ready or not, here we go.

It was fulfilling to receive the enthusiastic comments and responses. Some went beyond enthusiasm and bought some items. It further affirmed that the items were marketable.

We can only wish we have another show the following weekend so as to implement new ideas and some changes from lesson learnt. Such as a sign-up emailing list to maintain contact with the first patrons.

The organizers planned it well. The layout of the tables were cleverly arranged - all in the middle versus against the wall. The DJ's music gave a great vibe and wasn't overbearing. It was nice to work and connect with other indie designers.

We left still energized savoring how beautiful the day was.
